IMDG Course Singapore – International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code Awareness Training

What is the IMDG Code?

The International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code is an internationally recognised framework developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to regulate the safe transportation of dangerous goods by sea.

It covers the classification, packaging, marking, labelling, documentation, stowage and handling of dangerous goods transported in packaged form.

Personnel involved in preparing, offering, accepting or handling dangerous goods shipments should receive training appropriate to their duties and responsibilities.

This IMDG Code Awareness Course is designed for shore-based personnel involved in maritime dangerous goods operations, including:

• Freight forwarding and shipping personnel

• Logistics and supply chain professionals

• Warehouse and cargo handling personnel

• Dangerous goods shipment coordinators

• Import and export documentation personnel

• Staff involved in packing and preparing cargo for sea transport

IMDG Course Objectives

Upon completion of the training, participants will have an understanding of the IMDG Code and the requirements relevant to transporting dangerous goods by sea.

Participants will learn to identify dangerous goods, refer to the Dangerous Goods List, understand packaging and labelling requirements, and recognise the documentation and safety procedures associated with maritime dangerous goods shipments.

The course covers the following topics:

1. Introduction to the IMDG Code and its structure

2. Dangerous goods identification and classification

3. Using the Dangerous Goods List and Index

4. Dangerous goods packaging requirements

5. Package marking and labelling

6. Container marking and placarding

7. Dangerous goods transport documentation

8. Container Packing Certificate

9. Packing of Cargo Transport Units

10. Emergency procedures and medical first-aid guidance

Course Duration and Delivery

Duration: 24 hours, comprising 22 hours of theory and 2 hour of assessment.

Delivery Options: Classroom-based training or online training, subject to availability.

Entry Requirements: Participants must be able to read, write and understand basic English.

Training Venue: AAT Training Hub, Singapore. The venue for each session will be indicated in the course schedule.

IMDG Course Fees and Certification

Course Fee: S$820 before GST.

Participants who successfully complete the assessment will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by AAT Training Hub Pte Ltd.
